From fourth place in May to a 211-vote win

Hartill has stood here before. At the borough elections in May, Myatt’s Fields elected two councillors, and she finished fourth with 1,108 votes (Lambeth Council, May 2026 result).

Candidate, May 2026 Party Votes
Patience Clague Green 1,267 (elected)
Annie Gallop Labour and Co-operative Party 1,179 (elected)
John Lubbock Green 1,162
Molly Hartill Labour and Co-operative Party 1,108

The second seat in May was decided by 17 votes, between Cllr Gallop and the Green candidate John Lubbock. Hartill was 71 votes short of it.

The two contests are not directly comparable. In May each voter had two crosses; on Thursday they had one. But a ward that split almost evenly between the two leading parties in May gave Labour and Co-operative a clear lead this time.

What changes at the town hall

Very little in the chamber. A Labour and Co-operative seat has been filled by a Labour and Co-operative councillor, so the balance between the parties is what it was before Cllr Gallop died.

The Greens run Lambeth. They won 29 of the 63 seats in May and hold every cabinet post, so this result does not change who sets the budget or makes cabinet decisions (Lambeth Council, results by party).

The ward now has a split pair: Cllr Clague for the Greens and Cllr Hartill for Labour and Co-operative.
