Free coaching and hypnosis tasters at Omnibus Theatre, Clapham: Thursday 15 October at 5.30pm and Saturday 31 October at 6pm. Book a place on Eventbrite.

Two free evening sessions of coaching and guided hypnosis are coming to Omnibus Theatre on Clapham Common North Side: Thursday 15 October, 5.30pm to 7pm, and Saturday 31 October, 6pm to 8pm. Both are free, places are limited, and you book through Eventbrite.

They are run by Marta Piechocka, who spent more than a decade working at a London university and 15 years of her spare time running a supplementary school, and who changed course after what she describes as a long spell of feeling disconnected behind a successful front.

Each session is titled “From Feeling Stuck to Finding Flow”. According to the Eventbrite listings, it runs in two parts with a short break, and mixes coaching questions, guided hypnosis, self-reflection and simple practical exercises. Copies of Marta’s book, The Essence of Life, will be available on the night for anyone who wants one.

“From the outside, everything looked successful”

Marta’s own story is the reason the sessions exist, and she tells it plainly.

“For over a decade, I worked at one of London’s universities, while also dedicating 15 years of my spare time to leading a supplementary school for over 200 children,” she writes. During her time in charge, she says, the school won the Best Polish Educational Institution in the UK award, and she was nominated for Polish Woman of the Year in the UK.

“From the outside, everything looked successful. People saw a strong, confident woman, but on the inside, I felt increasingly disconnected, overwhelmed and eventually depressed.”

“I reached a point when I had to make difficult decisions and close several important chapters of my life. It wasn’t simply a career change; it was a conscious decision to rediscover who I truly was.”

She has been curious about people for as long as she can remember. “Since childhood, I have been fascinated by people and their behaviour. I asked questions adults often couldn’t answer, which led me to search through books for explanations.”

Training she did for herself

The coaching came later, and not as a plan. “Desperate to find my way back to myself, I enrolled in professional training in Elite Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy and Mentoring, purely for my personal development,” she writes. “Even after receiving accreditation from the International Authority for Professional Coaching and Mentoring (IAPC&M), I still refused to call myself a life coach, as becoming one had never been my intention.”

Then people who knew about the training started asking for help. “Eventually, I agreed to try, without promising results, and for over six months, I offered sessions completely free of charge.”

Each one took time to prepare, she says, because she writes a separate hypnosis script for every client. “Through this bespoke approach, I began witnessing some beautiful transformations in my clients. They became more relaxed and confident, and found ways to overcome patterns they had carried for years. For some, it meant managing procrastination; for others, building confidence, changing unwanted habits or rediscovering forgotten ambitions.”

“It was their progress and encouragement that persuaded me to turn this work into my profession.”

Release, Connection and Flow

She now works with clients one to one and in workshops under the name Empower Essence, and speaks at wellbeing festivals, universities and organisations. She created the Three Gates Method®, a three-stage approach encompassing Release, Connection and Flow. In her words, that means “recognising limiting beliefs and repeated patterns, reconnecting with ourselves and our needs, and moving forward with greater confidence and a sense of flow”. It underpins her paid programme, Return to the Essence, and the free sessions are an introduction to it.

The aim, she says, is not to turn anyone into someone else. “I simply help them uncover the answers that may have been buried beneath years of outside noise and expectations.”

Who it is for

You do not have to be struggling badly to come along, she says. “Perhaps you have a fantastic career and financial security but struggle to find a fulfilling relationship. Or perhaps you’re in a wonderful relationship yet face financial difficulties, stress, procrastination or a constantly clouded mind. Sometimes there are several challenges, and sometimes it’s simply one area of life that needs a little more attention and awareness.”

The listings describe the evenings as open to people who are coping with work, family and everyday life but still feel stuck, unfulfilled or ready for a change.

What she hopes people get from the evening: “a chance to slow down and step away from everyday pressures. Through practical life coaching exercises, self-reflection and gentle guided hypnosis, you’ll experience my approach and have an opportunity to release some of the tension or stress you may have been carrying. It will also be a chance to spend time with like-minded people who may be on a similar journey.”
