Lambeth has no pantomime this Christmas. Peter Pan runs at New Wimbledon Theatre from 5 December and Cinderella at Fairfield Halls from 11 December.

There is no pantomime in Lambeth this Christmas. Not in Clapham, not in Brixton, not in Streatham. That is the honest answer to the question, and the useful part is what the borough’s theatres have programmed instead and which of the big south London pantos already have dates and a cast on sale.

What Lambeth’s theatres are actually doing in December

Brixton House has a December show, but it is not a family one. Its what’s on lists No Apologies, 2 to 12 December, which the theatre describes as “a radical mis-remembering of Nirvana’s iconic 1993 MTV Unplugged concert”. Nothing follows it before the new year.

That is a change from what the building used to do. Brixton House’s Christmas family show was Cinderella, which ran 23 November to 31 December 2023: a Brixton-set reimagining with rap, poetry and home-grown vegetables, script and lyrics by Danusia Samal, music by Duramaney Kamara, directed by Ola Ince. Even then reviewers pointed out it was not really a panto. South West Londoner, on 5 December 2023, noted the spoken word and hip hop were “performed like in a TikTok video rather than a Christmas pantomime”. The theatre’s show page is still up, which catches people out, so check the year before you try to book it.

Omnibus Theatre in Clapham Old Town programmes a longer family run each December, four to five weeks of it, and says so on its own artists page. It has not announced this year’s. Its current listings end with DOLLY, 20 October to 7 November. On past form the December show is named in the autumn, so this is the one to watch if you want something within walking distance.

The Bread & Roses Theatre on Clapham Manor Street runs the Lambeth Fringe from 24 September to 25 October. Its what’s on page currently carries no listings at all beyond that.

Streatham Space Project’s website was down when we checked, returning “Squarespace - Website Expired”, so we cannot say what it has planned.

The two nearest pantos with dates and a cast

Both are a train ride, both are already selling, and between them they cover the whole school holiday.

Peter Pan, New Wimbledon Theatre, Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. ATG’s show page has Jessie Wallace as Captain Hook, Aston Merrygold as Peter Pan, Tom Read Wilson as the Magical Merman and Pete Firman as Smee. ATG does not publish a price on the show page, only a booking calendar, so we are not quoting a figure. The theatre is a short walk from Wimbledon station.

Cinderella, Fairfield Halls, Croydon, Friday 11 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. The venue’s own event page prices it from £18, with discounts for groups, schools and under-16s, and performances running from 10.30am to 7pm depending on the date. Charlie Guest is back as Buttons, Lee Latchford-Evans of Steps plays Prince Charming, Rachel Grundy takes the title role, and Luke Attwood and Brandon Nicholson are the baddies. It is a UK Productions show written by Jon Monie. Fairfield Halls is beside East Croydon station.

Both venues run access performances, relaxed and signed among them. Neither publishes those dates on the main show page, so ask the box office rather than assume.

Which one to book

If you want a traditional panto with a name on the poster and a big stage, that is Wimbledon. If you want a published price before you commit, that is Croydon, where the £18 floor is on the page. If you want something within pram-pushing distance of Clapham Common, wait for Omnibus to announce, because there is nothing else.

Book early either way. Both runs cover the last two weeks of December, which is when the weekend matinees go first.

Getting there and parking

Both theatres sit next to a station and both towns charge for parking on the approach roads, so the train is the sane option from anywhere in SW4, SW2 or SW16.
