Glide at Battersea Power Station runs 6 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Streatham's Olympic-size rink skates all year, with 60-minute public sessions.

There is no ice rink on Clapham Common, and no one has announced a pop-up rink in SW4 for this winter. The two places Clapham skates are a short trip in opposite directions: Glide at Battersea Power Station, the seasonal outdoor rink that opens on Friday 6 November 2026, and Streatham Ice Rink, Lambeth’s Olympic-size indoor rink, which runs public sessions all year.

The quick answer

  • Glide at Battersea Power Station: Friday 6 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, confirmed by Battersea Power Station. Tickets are on sale; prices are shown only in the booking calendar, session by session.
  • Streatham Ice Rink: open all year, 60-minute public sessions seven days a week, booked through Active Lambeth.
  • Streatham’s Christmas ice show ran on Saturday 13 December last year. The 2026 show has not been announced; last year’s went up on 7 November.

Glide at Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station’s own event listing says Glide “returns from 6 November 2026 to 3 January 2027”. It has three interconnecting rinks around a 30ft Christmas tree and a 200-metre skate trail along the river, which was new last year and is back for 2026, according to the rink’s skate trail page. Off the ice there is a bar and café called The Glass House, a carousel, a helter skelter and a churros stand.

Prices. Glide does not publish a price list. Its tickets page asks you to pick a session in the calendar to see what is available, and lists the ticket types as adult (13 and over), child, adult and child groups, family, student, wheelchair user and essential companion. Students get a free house beer, wine, soft drink or hot drink with the ticket, on Monday to Thursday sessions up to 10 December. Skate hire is included. The Glide Unlimited season pass, covering weekday and weekend sessions, costs £290, according to Glide’s help centre. Newsletter sign-ups are being offered a limited-time 2-for-1 deal.

What the help centre does price: penguin skate aids £6 (children under 1m tall, first come first served), cloakroom £2 for small items and £4 for larger ones, and a £3 per ticket fee to reschedule, allowed up to a week ahead.

Sessions and festive hours. A session lasts about 45 minutes. On weekday mornings early in the season, Extended Skate sessions let you stay on until 2.40pm (6 to 20 November) or 1.40pm (23 November to 4 December). Over Christmas:

  • Christmas Eve and Boxing Day: last session 9pm
  • Christmas Day: closed
  • New Year’s Eve: an extra New Year’s Skate from 11pm to 12.15am
  • New Year’s Day: last session 8pm

Accessible Skate sessions, with fewer skaters and lower music and lighting, are on Monday 9 November at 5pm, Tuesday 17 November at 7pm, Saturday 21 November at 11am, Saturday 28 November at 10am, Thursday 17 December at 11am and Saturday 2 January at 10am. The rink is outdoor and runs in nearly all weather, with no refunds for rain.

Rules worth knowing before you book, from Glide’s 2026 terms:

  • A child ticket is for ages 3 to 12. Children 12 and under must be with someone aged 16 or over at all times, including on the ice.
  • 13 to 15 year olds must come in with a responsible person aged 16 or over.
  • Glide advises arriving 40 minutes before your session. There are no refunds or exchanges if you arrive late and miss part of it.
  • Penguin skate aids are available for younger skaters.

Getting there from Clapham. Battersea Power Station has its own Northern line station on Battersea Park Road; from Clapham, change at Kennington. Glide’s visitor page also lists Battersea Park station (Southern, about ten minutes’ walk), Queenstown Road (South Western, about 15 minutes), buses 156, 344 and 436 to Pump House Lane, and Uber Boat to Battersea Power Station Pier. The rink’s address is Circus Road West, SW8 5BN.

Streatham Ice Rink, all year

Lambeth’s own rink is in Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre, now run by the council’s Active Lambeth. Its ice skating page describes a full Olympic-size rink, 60 by 30 metres, with public sessions “run all throughout the day, 7 days a week”. Every session lasts 60 minutes and Active Lambeth advises booking online.

  • Skate hire runs from child size 7 to adult size 15, or bring your own.
  • Penguin aids for children under 1.2m and snowman aids for taller ones. Expect a wait for them at busy times.
  • Children under 8 must be with a skating adult.
  • Carers of registered disabled skaters skate free, with proof.
  • Trousers are compulsory; gloves and long sleeves are recommended.

Active Lambeth’s published price list covers swimming, gym and classes but not public skating, so the session price is shown only when you book. Note that the centre’s car park lift was out of service when we checked on 28 September.

Streatham’s Christmas ice show

Streatham’s skating clubs put on a Christmas show every December. Last year’s, Christmas Rewind: 2000’s Edition, ran on Saturday 13 December 2025, 6pm to 8pm, with routines from the dance and figure skating club and the Learn to Skate programme. Tickets were £15.45 adult, £12.35 child, £10.30 OAP or concession, £46.25 for a family of four and £5.15 for under 5s.

The 2026 show has not been announced. Last year’s notice went up on 7 November, so expect this year’s in early November. We will add it here.

Parking

Glide’s help centre points drivers to the 24-hour underground car park at Circus West Village, SW11 8EZ, entered from Battersea Park Road via Pump House Lane. Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre has its own car park. If you are driving round Clapham in December, our parking page sets out the controlled zones and bay charges, and the roadworks and travel page has the closures in force.
